What we scan

Loose Photos
  • Loose photos are when your photos are not fixed into an album or photo frame. They might be kept in a drawer or an old box and it's quite normal to have lots of them placed altogether, for safe keeping. We also receive packs of photos in wallets - as they used to send them to you when you had them originally printed. Leave them in those wallets and we will still count these as loose photos.
  • When we scan photos, we have to scan them individually although we do have high speed professional Kodak scanners, so they are not individually handled unless of course, they need some special handling. We scan them, crop them, rotate them and we also scan the backs if you want us to.
  • We scan photos up to A4 size. The difference between a 300dpi and 600dpi is quite difficult to notice on screen; 300 dpi dots per inch is our Premium quality - good for viewing on digital screens and for reprinting about 1.5 - 2 times the size of the original. 600 dpi dots per inch is our Superior quality - required for reprinting larger than 2 times the original. Also required for printing onto canvas, mugs, T-shirts etc. Remember, the reprint quality is dependent on the original quality of your photos when taken. Request a Free Demo Pack and see how your photos will look.

Photo Albums
  • Photo albums come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and therefore, we don't recommend scanning a page of photos from an album; quite often, the plastic film encasing the photos has become scratched or is dusty and the quality of the photos when scanned can be quite poor. Also, you end up with multiple photos on one scanned image including the album page and its background.
  • We prefer to achieve high quaility results and for that reason, photos are best removed from albums. You can either remove them yourself or for a very small charge, we can remove them for you. Once that has been done, they become Loose Photos as above.
  • If you want to use our 'photo removal' service then we'll talk to you about this to find the best way forward for what you want to achieve. We offer a 'talk to a real person' about any query you have.

35mm Slides
  • 35mm Slides are sometimes sent loose or better still in a slide box; do secure them for transportation so that they don't get scratched. We scan slides at 1200dpi which is what is required to get a superb image.

35mm Negatives
  • 35mm Negatives usually come in strips of 6 images. We will scan each strip but if we see any blank images as are often found at the end of your pack, we'll delete them and you won't be charged for them. We scan negatives at 1200dpi which is what is required to get a superb image.

Memorabilia / School work / Paperwork
  • This can be all sorts of things: letters, post cards, birthday cards, certificates, tickets, children's pictures, school writing work and more. This is scanned to A4 size at 300dpi.
  • Paperwork such as home files of pretty much any type, can be scanned and will allow to really save space. You may want to still keep the original paperwork and store it away, but you'll be able to access any of it very very easily! This is scanned at 200dpi which is absolutely sufficient.
