Preparing your photos

Loose photos with no photo folder naming

You don't have to name your photo folders unless you want to. We often talk with people who have kept their photos and personal keepsakes in a drawer, or perhaps a box with the full intention that one day 'I'll sort them out'. So this is your chance - they can still be scanned from a drawer or box, no problem.

Indeed, we can scan them for you and when you want to, you can sort them into folders (like albums) of your own, using your PC/Laptop or using an online album.

When we take your order for loose photos with no folder naming, we'll just arrange to collect your photos, scan them and return them to you.

Pricing for loose photos with no folder naming is slightly cheaper simply because there is less work for us to do.

So what's all the fuss about Naming my Photo Folders then?

Naming your photo folders

Well, what if you want your photos to be bundled into events such as

  • '1985 John & Linda's wedding' or '1967 Sally's 1st birthday'.

Or perhaps more general tabs such as years:

  • '1981' or
  • '1985 - 1990 School days' or
  • 'Grandma's younger days' or 'Dad's army days', for example.

Sometimes people group their holiday photos by country name and year or perhap have a largle bundle just named 'My musical days'.

Now you have your photos or memorabilia sorted into some kind of order and hey presto, you can easily:

  • quickly find what you're looking for
  • share the exact folders (ie albums) with family and friends
  • know that when you're giving copies of the collection to family members, that they too can quickly enjoy viewing them because they're in named folders
  • easily pick out individual photos if you're perhaps printing a mug as a present or may be preparing a 50th birthday special album for a friend.

When we take your order for Named Photo Folders, here's what we do:

  • you sort out your bundles and pop them into resealable bags, envelopes or whatever you have to hand
  • just write the name of the folder (album) on a label and stick it on the front of the bag
  • we'll use that label to name your photo folder and scan your bundles of photos into this folder

We have resealable bags available if would like us to supply them. Please just ask.

HOW SHOULD I PACKAGE MY PHOTOS?

It's best to pack your photos / slide / negatives / memorabilia or paperwork fairly tightly into a resealable bags. Each bundle should have at least 25 photos in it. Leave slides in boxes, leave negatives in plastic wallets and leave loose photos in wallets or envelopes as they are.

Then pack them into a small cardboard box (the size of an average shoe box) so that they don't move around too much during transportation.
